more than less, started from seoul, south korea, came back with 4th vinyl release �folka ep�, composed by joton, owner of newrhythmic records, based in north spain, leon. he is also part of more than less records, releasing �fragment ep� with soolee remixes in 2014. it had great success and been supported by many producers like surgeon, pacou, dvs1, invite, lakker, paul mac, samuli kemppi, unam zetineb, jeroen search and many more. �folka ep� has two new tracks, called �frontier� and �sendice�. these two tracks are remixed by japanese techno hero, dj nobu, and korean techno pioneer, soolee, again. the �folka ep� represents the conjunction of asianeuropean techno, which more than less has been pursuing. �frontier� has pure anlalog synth sounds with addicted melody line, based on rough sound textures. it�s obviously for the peak time of the dance floor. �sendice� has unique grooves which joton�s trademark and adding rhythmic loops gives numerous dance feelings. �frontier�, dj nobu remixed, gives hypnotic raw sounds and exotic feelings. it has subtle rhythmic factor and people can�t help moving their body. another remixer is, more than less records owner, soolee. it is 9 minute track, consisting with full of hypnotic sounds from the first to the end.

el origen is a collaborative project between chile s rodrigo gallano (matanza) and nicola cruz (zzk) exploring the folkloric musical traditions of south america. the a side is comprised of original compositions written, played and sung by rodrigo while nicola cruz remixes all the tracks on the b side, giving the sons his signature deep electronic vibe. the ep will be out on a special limited edition 12- with art composed by renown street artist ju mu monster.

it s not often we get an insight into the electronic music of south america, so all hail the arrival of calypso from mexico s inigo vontier and argentina s thomass jackson. the tracks featured certainly strike a unique chord, with mendrix weaving a seductive, noirish tale full of brooding guitar and slow ticking drums, while -colossio- takes on a darkwave tone on the wonderfully creepy -esta en mi-. the label bosses tackle the b side, with jackson s -fantomas- sporting a sharper dancefloor sensibility without ever resorting to obvious tropes. vontier rounds the ep out with the weirdo boogie throwdown of -namaste-, sure to pique the interest of anyone locked into the sound coming out of the speakers.

an original copy of the brasileira lp by brazilian singer maria rita stumpf has been on top of collectors and music lovers wishlist for the past couple of years, since cântico brasileiro no 3 (kamaiura)- broke out and cast a spell worldwide � from japan to brazil, from norway to south africa, everybody was flabbergasted after they first heard the song, and each and every time they heard it again. for the lucky ones that could listen to her whole album � and get to know other gems such as lamento africano/rictus and a cidade it is clear that it is an ouvre that more people should have access to, not only an elite of listeners and connaisseurs. the good news are that the lp will be available again in its entirety in a new, glossy, loud and clear pressing released through selva discos, a new label run by augusto olivani and millos kaiser (the dj/production duo known as selvagem) in partnership with jd twitch s optimo music. it s a legit reissue overviewed by maria rita stumpf herself, the music being remastered from the remaining dat tape of the original release and artwork faithfully updated by brazilian design studio colletivo, featuring liner notes by the singer/songwriter.

gidge is a production duo consisting of jonatan nilsson and ludvig stolterman. based in the northern parts of sweden, gidge quickly built a solid fan base with releases of their albums autumn bells, lnlnn and lulin. the music of gidge seems to affect their audience in an emotional way, which eventually resulted in the duo taking the top spot as best new artist at xlr8rs readers poll, as well as having the 3lps ending up on numerous end of year lists. their main source of inspiration is the vast, snow-covered woodlands of the north. gidge have for instance recorded all of their percussions in the forest, using only the sticks and rocks that can be found there. for seoul though came about after the duo went on a trip through asia, and spent a number of days in the south korean capital. they fell in love with seoul, and later on created this two-part hymn for the giant city. applescal created a remix for the track, which you can listen on the b side.

bringing his signature sound to crosstown rebels, delightfully unconventional producer sis delivers his third release on the label, the blind side. hot on the heels of his boabab album on mobilee, rodriguez jr. delivers a stunning remix on the b-side. the blind side is set to soundtrack the summer, an incredibly infectious track with its exotic and intricate drum workouts and alluring vocal cuts. on the flip, rodriguez jr. brings in deep pads, uplifting melodic keys and a storming piano lines for a whole new take on the original. taking his artistic enthusiasm from his turkish father, sis grew up in berlin surrounded by music. following a series of releases on nick curly�s cecille, ricardo villalobos who loved his track trompeta so much that he released it on his boutique label picked up the german producer sei es drum in 2008. his success of trompeta led to an avalanche of recognition, groove magazine and �newcomer of the year� by raveline mag named him both �producer of the year�. in 2011 sis launched his own label cocolino where he released his debut three-part album dejame. olivier mateu aka rodriguez jr. grew up in the south of france and moved to paris as a young adult and soon formed the electro group the youngsters. signed by laurent garnier to f communications, the duo released two albums and a string of successful singles. focusing on a different alias, rodriguez jr. gave olivier the freedom to run with his creativity, which can be seen in his acclaimed live shows.

the 04am a-side contains two south-african 80 s bubblegum tracks, revamped by young dj and producer perdu. he provided the tracks with delicate intros and rearranged them with new percussion, synths and deeper basslines. on the flip afrobot delivers two kind of new beat cuts, making the originals more abstract by some heavy chopping, reducing the amount of samples used, and adding disco breaks to the track jungle. handstamped with another drawing by frank koedood.

south african house and synth-funk from the kwaito era by the legendary senyaka kekana. the unexpected deep house jam bayanyonyoba (1993) and the illustrious soul song dont judge me bad (1987) are big rh favorites. original copies are absolutely impossible to find, now released on 12inch for the first time. beautiful sleeve by stenze quo! esa williams i had the pleasure of performing alongside senyaka at the alexander theatre, johannesburg back in 2012 which would have probably been his last most iconic gig before his passing in 2015. these two tracks really showcase the sounds of south africa around the early to late 80�s, the influences from american synth pop and house that would then lead later into many of these records being played at the wrong speed which ultimately became the original kwaito sound from south africa

south africas escapism refuge returns to londons smokin sessions with the on the fence ep, following his previous effort for the label the highly acclaimed vol. 31. a-side and title track on the fence is an understated and subtle effort, carrying with it an introspective and moody set of harmonies and chord progressions. its a quietly uplifting start to the ep, and the tracks lead melody will remain stuck in your head for days. the b1, almost eight does things differently by incorporating elements of classic ruff sqwad-era grime with an updated and crisp set of modern day production techniques. the ep�s last track, dust, uses a deep and propulsive bass line, which is augmented by escapisms now signature use of fleeting vocal samples. its a powerful ending to a heavyweight and emotionally-charged ep from escapism refuge. escapism refuges previous efforts have gained impressive dj support from across the scene, from figures such as compa (deep medi), synkro, gilles peterson, lefto, joe kay (soulection), don letts, tim parker, n- type, phaeleh and many more.

say you love me wasn�t �om� alec khaoli�s first solo recording but the 1985 ep solidified the bass player and songwriter�s standing as one of south africa�s most consistently innovative pop auteurs. he built a career on ubiquitous rock, pop and soul hits with groundbreaking bands like the beaters, harari and umoja. but khaoli�s seemingly endless fountain of music continued outside these ensembles, where he usually played bass and contributed songwriting and vocals.

amsterdam producers and good friends kaap and scott franka have come together to start a new label and live act: working titles. kaap is best known as the label boss of tape cassette label yield, scott just debuted with his first 12� on quartet series. together they perform primarily hardware based live sessions. for their label they improvise, jam and record to press these takes only on vinyl. the idea is to capture the real, raw and authentic improvised moments as soon as possible after they happen, hence the name working titles. this first vinyl release features the wt001 and wt002 outtakes on one disc. these sessions were recorded by the pair in an abandoned cabin in the woods in the south of holland, surrounded by nature.
